Contest Rules
1. In order to participate in our Spiffy Baby Of the Month contest, you have to:
* Be a registered member of www.SpiffyBaby.com. (it's free and takes only 57 seconds!).
* Be an adult of 18 years of age or older.
* Be a legal parent or guardian of the baby entering the contest.
* Read and accept our 'Baby Of the Month' rules/code of conduct.
2. All pictures submitted become the property of www.SpiffyBaby.com, who may post the winner's picture anywhere on our site for promotional purposes.
3. All entrants who appear on the picture must be 0-36 months of age.
4. All photos should have been taken within the last six months.
5. Only the First Name, City and State will be displayed next to each contender's picture. We want you to know, that www.SpiffyBaby.com does not share any of its contender's personal information, which is required to be filled in when entering the contest. This information may be used ONLY to send you the Winning Gift or a Gift Certificate in case your baby is chosen by contest voters. You will also receive an occasional e-mail about our current contenders, winners and promotional prizes.
6. Due to copyright restrictions the individual professional photographer may have in place we can not allow professional photos to be entered into the contest. If you are unclear if your photo was taken professionally, the general rule is if you paid someone to take the photo (Sears, Olan Mills, etc.) it is considered professionally taken.
7. Try to keep the file size under 100K. Anything over this size simply may not be uploaded. You can use simple photo editing software to make digital photos smaller in file size. We will not be able to resize anyone's photos. The ideal size image is 350x400 pixels. All photos must be in jpg format.
8. The only person in the photograph may be of the one baby entered. We will not crop anyone's photos.
9. You are welcome to submit only ONE picture so pick your favorite!
10. Any adult, sex or nudity (i.e. exposed genitalia) related pictures will be rejected automatically and this member would be banned from entering the contests in the future.
11. Winners of previous contest would be eligible to participate only the next month. I.e. if your child won the contest in May, the next month you can submit his/her picture would be July.
12. It is in your best interest that your baby photograph is of the best quality (i.e. no "white space," rotated properly, not too small, not blurry, not too dark, not grainy, etc.) and is the focal point of the picture. Good and clear pictures tend to get more votes.
13. www.SpiffyBaby.com will not be held liable for any misuse or consequence directly or indirectly relating to its services, including but not limited to its online announcements, contests, voting forms, links or affiliations.
Q: What is the contest schedule?
In the begging of every calendar month, you may register and upload your favorite baby photograph. From this time until the end of the month (i.e. last day of each calendar month) the photograph can be voted for by anyone visiting www.SpiffyBaby.com. Please note that for the sake of fairness, all entries submitted after the 16th of the month will be entered into the following month's contest.
Q: Are all entries accepted?
Yes. All photos which meet the contest rules will be accepted. See the top of this page for a full list of rules.
Q: Can I enter a professionally taken photograph into the contest?
No. Due to copyright restrictions that the individual photographer may have in place we can not allow professional photos to be entered into the contest. If you are unclear if your photo was taken professionally, the general rule is if you paid someone to take the photo (Sears, Olan Mills, etc.) it is considered professionally taken. This includes "Santa Photos" taken at your local shopping mall. Under no circumstances are we able to accept a photo that appears to have been professionally taken. Unfortunately we can not verify ownership of every photo, so if your picture *appears* to have been taken professionally, regardless if it actually was or not, we will not be able to accept it. This is both for the previous reason, and also to eliminate the hundreds of complaints we would receive stating "their photo was taken professionally, why can't I enter mine?"
Q: How will I know if my picture is accepted?
You will be notified via e-mail when your picture is reviewed. Please be sure to add Contest@SpiffyBaby.com to your address book so that you can receive our emails! The review process can take up to three (3) business days. If your photo is not accepted you may enter again immediately with a different picture. Please make sure your Spam Filters allow our automatic mailings.
Q: Can I upload/submit pictures more than once a month?
No. You may only upload or submit pictures once per month.
Q: When can I enter for next month if my baby was entered this month already?
If you baby photograph did not win in the previous contest, you may enter the next contest and try your luck again as soon as next month. However, the winners of previous contest would be eligible to participate only the month after to assure fairness to all the applicants. I.e. if your baby photograph won the contest in May, the next month you can submit his/her picture would be July.
Q: How do I know who won?
Winners are posted on the home page of www.SpiffyBaby.com within three business days of contest's end. You cannot miss it! The winner is sent an e-mail immediately informing him/her of great news.
Q: How is a winner chosen?
Unlike many other web contests, at www.SpiffyBaby.com we DON'T choose the winners. YOU, the visitors and members do! Winners are chosen by the number of unique votes a baby's picture receives. At SpiffyBaby we have implemented a unique method of voting, which ensures fairness and legitimacy during the voting process. Each visitor/member can vote only ONCE as soon as the photograph is uploaded. Each computer connected to the Internet has an IP address, a combination of numbers that can uniquely identify your PC. As soon as you vote, we consider it a unique vote, which goes towards a specific photograph. You cannot revoke the vote once voted, so be careful in choosing your favorite picture. So it is certainly in your best interest to urge your friends & family to vote for your baby every day from different PCs. On the last day of each month a winner is chosen by a system based on number of votes received. That winner would be displayed for a whole month on our website until the next winner is chosen.
Q: How will I know how many votes my baby received?
At the end of month, general voting statistics would be provided to all inquiring participants.
Q: Can I vote more than once?
No. Each person may vote only once in a given month for a given picture.
Q: How can I solicit votes for my baby?
Feel free to invite your friends & family to vote for your baby by emailing them, calling them, IM, etc.
Q: What are the prizes?
Depending on the number of contestants in the current month, number of votes and other factors, the Grand Prize will be a gift from SpiffyBaby.com that could range in value up to $50.
Q: Why do I need a Spiffy Baby account to enter?
We found this is the easiest way to track information and to enter your pictures. If you don't have a Spiffy Baby account, please register with us, it's free, it's fast, and it's simple.
Q: Will my last name be shown to the public?
Yes. The baby's First and Last Name, City and State will be displayed next to each contender's picture. We want you to know, that www.SpiffyBaby.com does not share any of its contender's personal information, which is required to be filled in when entering the contest. You may contact us to omit any information from being displayed.
Q: I have two babies - can I enter them both?
We advise against your children competing against each other so we recommend not entering more than one child in any given month. However, if you want your votes divided between two entrants, you can enter each of them separately.
Q: I saw a baby photo on the voting form that doesn't meet the rule requirements...
Spiffy Baby reviews multiple entries each month. While we certainly are not infallible, we do our best to ensure all photos entered meet our theme and rule requirements. Please keep in mind that this contest is intended to be fun. If your photo isn't accepted, you are welcome to enter a different one. However if you see a photo that has been professionally taken please let us know.
