It all began in 1963, David Schnitzler son of a textile dealer, graduates from textile college after which he travels to Canada for some initial work experience in the field. In Canada, David Schnitzler discovers textile links with Japan. He starts with his first production, the "pyjama bags".
Together with his late brother, Bram Schnitzler, he finally starts his first independent business; "Schnitzler Brothers Agencies". Soon the collection started to expand from these early roots with soft toys and dolls designed by DH Schnitzler within only a few years; Happy Horse established itself among the top brands on the soft toy market in Holland.
Production of all items was transferred to China from Japan some years ago. Happy Horse takes pride in having always taken full responsibility for the design of every soft toy. During the first ten years, David Schnitzler was the only designer. Now, Happy Horse has professional designers who launch every season's spectacular creations. However, David Schnitzler, age 67, is still closely involved in every step it takes to create the collection. No plush toy is launched without his permission. |
